MORE THAN YOU CAN IMAGINE
Life is choices. Paradise Ranch offers so many choices, there are simply not enough hours in the day to take part in everything. Lope over a wildflower strewn mountain mesa, fly cast over trout that have not seen another artificial fly all summer, or hike into the red rock canyons of the legendary Hole in the Wall where Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid made their hideout.
Both adults and kids will find activities suited to their individual desires.
Horseback Riding
Our horseback riding program is second to none. We custom fit each guest with the horse that perfectly matches their riding ability. Our riding program is very flexible, and features a number of choices. We offer two hour rides as well as both half-day and full-day rides. All day rides include lunches packed on mules & cooked along the trail. Horsemanship classes are available.
Hook up with one of our seasoned wranglers and spend a morning or an afternoon riding through the wildflower strewn mountain meadows in the surrounding Bighorn National Forest. You’ll ride trails through mountain scenery that will take your breath away.
Or spend an afternoon in our private rodeo arena practicing team penning, in which teams of three riders separate three steers from a larger group and work them around the arena and into a pen on the other end of the arena. This is a timed event and competitive and fun for all. Special team penning classes are available
If you get up early enough, you will see the ranch horses wrangled down from the high alpine meadows with thundering hooves and steaming nostrils to our ranch corrals.
Fishing
"Give a man a fish, feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, feed him for a lifetime." At Paradise Ranch, this is our philosophy on fly fishing. We take great pride in teaching our guests the art of fly fishing and igniting a lifelong interest in this wonderful sport.
We have recently expanded our fly fishing program and have a myriad of fishing possibilities to offer our guests. Our guides are well trained which means you count on good fishing advice and a guide attuned to your enjoyment, comfort and satisfaction.
During your week at the ranch we offer casting clinics, knot and fly tying classes and teach you how to strike, play and properly catch and release fish on our private trout ponds. After your start-up lessons, you are free to pursue group guided trips, private guided trips or take off on your own to our productive and varied surrounding waters.
For the avid fisherman, we have some exceptional guided trips to offer. Our more popular trips include the Blue Ribbon waters of The Middle Fork of the Powder River and The Bighorn River in Montana. A favorite trip for our guests is an all day lunch/fishing ride to one of our local high mountain streams or lakes in The Cloud Peak Wilderness. Check out our fly fishing Pack Trips page.
Cutthroat, Eastern Brook, Rainbow, and Brown trout abound in the waters in and around our ranch. We would love the opportunity to personally show you the magic of fly fishing.
Wildlife and Hiking
Like to see some wildlife? The ranch and its surrounding area have quite a selection. Keep your eyes open for elk, moose, deer, badger, mountain lion, coyote, beaver, fox, antelope, wild turkey, eagles and more, whether you’re on foot or on horseback.
For nature enthusiasts, we offer a unique naturalist/hiking program showcasing the Bighorn Mountain ecosystem. A variety of naturalist-guided hikes are offered throughout the week with a grand finale hike to the legendary Hole In The Wall, past the old hideouts of Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid. Some of our other more popular hikes include the Fan Mountain sunrise hike, wildflower identification hikes, and beaver pond and picnic hikes to scenic viewpoints in the surrounding area. Our naturalist guides are knowledgeable, attentive and love what they do.
